About Salvador

Salvador was born on a train, at 60 or 70 km per hour, somewhere in the south of Spain.  Not only an unusual start to life but to make it even more complicated he was also born dead.  His father was in the army and was regularly moving his family between Africa, Canary Islands, Spain, Denmark and England.  Finally Salvador came to Australia in 1970, and built his first boat with his hands and headed to the sea.  Salvador has a lovely wife and daughter and has since built a house hidden in the trees.

Salvador's passion still lives on the water and takes him away for the best half of each year.  While away, Salvador paints as a way to make the bond between him and the sea more enduring.   Salvador’s passion and free spirit is reflected in each of his paintings and he would love nothing more than to share them with the world.

A poem written by Salvador Mata  -

a sea journey of discovery and play

of new colours in the light of the day

a song from her blue depth

a virgin sea calleds

she talked of fear , peace and joy

of mystery and beauty untold

of a faraway  kingdom of troy

a mistress now she takes my heart

with a thousand faces she waits

to play with me her new toy

with waves and foam she charts

a dance of water , light and joy
